About the Artist: Jae-Hyo Lee

Jae-Hyo Lee was born in 1965 in Hapchen, Korea. He graduated from Hong-ik University with a Bachelor’s of Art degree in Plastic Art. He assembles natural materials such as pieces of wood, branches and leaves, and combines them with man-made materials such as iron nails into three-dimensional works which have elegant forms conveying a strong contemporary mood; opening a distinctive new direction in Korean contemporary art. He has had an extensive solo exhibition history in Korea, Japan, China, the United Kingdom and the United States. He has been awarded numerous honors, including the Osaka Triennial Grand Prize (1998), the Young Artist of the Day presented by the Ministry of Culture of Korea (1998) and the Prize of Excellence in the 2008 Olympic Landscape Sculpture Contest.
